I'm a newbie and I think I have some probs with my 97 disco, seems this ABS light came on and it won't go off, I know it comes on for few seconds when I first start off and I guess that's normal but now it won't go out,my mechanic checked it out, brakes and all, and says it seems fine but can't get it to go off,he says there should be away to make it go off but he's not sure, any help will be greatly appreciated,I'm a woman who is very capable of my own repairs as I worked as a trained mechanic years ago,so I'm pretty familiar with most systems, but it's been awhile and not sure of these Rovers. |

Lisa, Could be a simple as needing to reseat one of the four sensors at each wheel - push them all down (front) or in (rear) by hand (ie: don't pound them) and then see if it clears the fault. If it does not, it could be a bad ABS sensor (replace is only option). There are other faults in the system itself that could trigger it. If you brake hard on a loose surface does the pump kick in and make the pedal pulse? If not, then you may have more serious issues. Regardless - try the first simple stuff listed, but then you may need to go to a dealer or independent shop that has a Rover testbook which will diagnose the fault more exactly. Bill |

If it is just a sensor that needs reseating or if you end up replacing a bad sensor, the light will turn off on it's own. If it is something else, it will require a Testbook or Autologic to diagnose/turn off. Most likely you would also need to find one bad sensor with them also. Bill |
