I degreased & rinsed the engine compartment tonight on my 95 Disco and now it won't start. I went to a spray n wash place and it started right up after I was finished. Then I got home, and tried to start it an hour later and no luck. The starter is fine, it just wont turn over. What could be wrong? Any input is much appreciated... Kyle J |

Pull the Distributer cap, and dry it out inside, and spray some WD-40 in there. It is most likely water vapor that has condensed in there after the engine cooled. ~Scott T. '95 D-90 (JEEPETR) '96 Discovery (5-Speed) |

C'mon guys, surely someone has gotten the engine compartment of their Disco a little too wet and had it not start? If someone could just give me a tip or point me in the right direction it would be appreciated greatly... Kyle J Also, where exactly should I spray the WD-40? |

Kyle J, Jeepetr's advice was good. But if you want to be thorough, clean and dry all electrical connections after the starter. This includes all electrical contact points inside the distributor, the spark plug wire connections at the distributor and the plugs, the connections at the ignition coil including the one from the coil to the cap. If it still doesn't work, then start verifying electrical connections with a meter or a spark plug wire tester. Set the gap, connect the plug wires and turn the motor over. If you fail to see if firing, you know where your problem is. If none of them fire, look to the coil, or coil/cap connections. Good luck, -P |

Problem solved! Much thanks to PerroneFord and JEEPETR. I cleaned the inside of the cap/rotor with electrial motor cleaner and it finally started. This site is a ton of help! Kyle |

What do you mean that the starter is fine but it won't turn over? Are you turning the key and nothing is happening? Was there a click? Was it just going RRRrrrrRRRRrrr? |
