Im seriously considering ripping out my whole Disco sound system. Head unit, CD changer, amps, speakers, subs. My first question is... Where is the main amp, and second.. Does anyone want my system if I do this? Theres nothing wrong with it, I just want to have a custom system which will support my toys. (XM, DVD) |

The amp on my '97 is located on the passenger side kick panel (you can see it if you drop the glove box down). It's a small black box with a single white connector on the bottom. There is also a 7.5 amp fuse next to it. I haven't verified it, but I also understand there is an additional amp located on the back of each subwoofer. If you're interested, see my post on Disco wiring harness for a pin-out at the radio end. David |

there is one amp on the back of the subs. Remove the sub grill with a philips and you will see 6 more philips mounting the sub enclosure to the door. Remove those and you may have to angle the enclosure off the door as the wires for the sub stick up. You can detatch the sub off the back and keep the speakers or replace them with some nice 6" aftermarkets, though I would fill the rear door with some sound dampning material if you do. JK |
