well i recently got back from a long distance trip..on the way home (two and half weeks ago) the engine started sputtering and the exhaust manifold started leaking leaking..when i got home the onboard diagnostic registered that an oxygen senosor was bad..well i figured that it was running rich with to much o2 because of the exhaust manifold leak..the guys at the shop thought this too..well they replaced the gasket..i drove home..the car sounded good..but there is still a sputtering..especially when i get up to around 70mph..there is no check engine light on and nothing on the diagnostic...any ideas..tonight i put in some sea foam and drove it for a while on the freeway and it seems to be sputtering even harder now...a vibration while at freeway speed...any ideas on whats going on 95 disco |

Speed sensor failing? Could this be sending a message to your engine that you are running 100mph instead of 60mph thus governing the engine by shutting down one bank? Just a thought. |

I currently have the same problem , truck runs great but between 80k,and 100k the engine sputters slightly as if the gas isn't getting thru. I noticed the problem only happens at that speed when I hit the smallest bumps in the road. Previous posts have suggested posslbly loose spark plug cables that fail when under load. I haven't bothered to invesigate too much as the problem is pretty minor and hasn't gotten worse yet. I'm guess I'm getting used to being a Rover owner ; ) Let me know if you find out anything , and I'll do some tinkering. |

It could be a clogged fuel filter, too. When did you last change it? |

Check your vacuum advance, they tend to work themselves loose and may cause rough idle and some hesitation. my .02 e |

turned out it was bad wire from the coil to the distributor cap..it was causing an arc..replaced all the spark plug wires including the coil wire and all is good now.repair was only the price of set of wires |
