I have a '01 DII, ACE package with 18,500 miles on it. I notice couple slight problems on it. After about 3 hours driving on the road, I hit traffic in the busy city of San Francisco. At idle speed waiting at the traffic light, I hear a recurring noise that acts up about every 15 seconds. I dont think it's from the brakes nor undressed belts. The sound appears to be under the chassis or on the back, and not from the hood. The other problem I experience is that recently I have to apply lots of brake power to stop this SUV. There is a safety recall, but I dont know if this would resolve this problem. #02V-028 - Throttle Cable Sticking.. I'm scheduled to bring in for this recall, but dont know that would fix it. The other safety recall: #02V-022 - Inappropriate ABS Activation -- I dont know much about this recall, hardly get the ABS activated. But LRNA has to fix it anyways. Thanks for reading - please provide feedbacks if you're familiar to these problems, or know anything about it. |

Kiem, That noise wouldn't be your ACE hydralics, would it? As for the breaking, get your recall work done and reassess. The only time I've had to break really hard was because I was brand new to the truck and was catching the corner of my foot on the accelerator when braking. Common rookie mistake apparently. I was scared to death, but the good crew here on DiscoWeb straightened me out. Thanks especially to Kyle, who was neither rude nor arrogant (LOL!) as he gently suggested it was pilot error. He was exactly right. Good luck figuring things out. Karen |

Karen, I dont think the noise is from the ACE. I've been driving this sweet bully since it's got 5 miles on it and I know how the ACE sounds. The noise starts to act up after about 2 hours driving on the road. Charlie, It's not from my foot, I know for sure. |

Does your truck have SLS? I got SLS and everytime I stop at a light the air compressor works to bring the truck level. The air compressor is right under the drivers seat, bolted to the frame. |

Describe the noise. If it's a short, quick burst that kindof sounds like linkage slack but is "mushier", then that's ACE valves. |

I don't know about the noise but I can relate to the brake issue. My '00 D2 has some damn mushy brakes. I have been to the dealer multiple times over this, they even replaced the master cylinder and have bled the brakes multiple times. No change. The dealer told me that most of the D2's have similar issues (probably BS). I had a 99 D2 that had no brake issues whatsoever. Sorry no solution, but commiseration. -Harley |

Kiem, I don't have ACE so I can't help you on the first issue. I took my '00 in for the recall Tues and they replaced the ABS module. The brakes seem to have a little better feel now. It's not day and night, but it is noticeable to me. |
