Hate to show my ignorance, but does CDL stand for Center Diff Lock?? If so, what exactly does it do??

the CDL locks the differential gears in the transfercase so both axle spin at the same speed.

this then divides the power evenly front to rear

it should not be used on hard dry roads because it causes wind up.( binding of the transfercase gears)

man the search stuff is kinda harsh thought I was on pirate for a second.
