My 97 disco needs a valve job. What is a reasonable price to pay for this? Dealer quotes $2500+ |

Can't vouch for this - but this post from the other day looked interesting enough to try before shelling out big $$: ../2/1774.html"#333333"> |

Did you actually say the words "valve" and "reasonable" in reference to a Land Rover? Does anyone do this job other than the dealer? -P |

1 can of BG 44K as well as top end cleaner with no luck. Just wondering if $2500 is the going rate for non dealers as well. It's tough to find a non-dealer in my area that will even touch the car. |

$2500 is excessive. You should look for a local independent shop (stay away from chain shops) and talk to the boss. After you explain that the engine in your exotic truck is nothing more than an early sixties GM V8, then you will get a more reasonable price. Another option would be to take off the heads yourself and bring them to an automotive machine shop for rework. It is not a big deal to remove heads, just review the manual, and you save a ton on labor. |
