Synthetic oil, when do you use it?

I understand there is a break-in period where conventional oil is best. How long is that? The diffs were changed out at 7,000 miles by the dealer.   PerroneFord Posted on Friday, March 29, 2002 - 11:38 pm:    5k to 10k is long enough to seat rings and run in gears. I'd switch then.
