Can anyone help me with a problem?

My 99 Disco II makes a clunking noise periodically when I put it in reverse to back out of a driveway or parking spot. It sounds like it has something to do with the steering column and/or brakes.

The dealer can't figure it out, or doesnt hear it but it happens to me periodically. It doesnt sound healthy... anyone else experience this?

I can't figure it out... Did your buddy have any idea what it was? The dealer doesnt seem to be concerned with it but I am thinking about buying my disco when the lease is up next month... just not sure its worth owning it... although I love the styling, I have not yet gone off road with it and it gets to the shop for either a recall, or some minor service every other month or so.

Kind of a pain to own it...

mine does this also (96 Disco) dealer says it is normal some crap about having three diffs checked it myself and there is excessive amount of play in rear diff they will not fix it even though it vibrates the entire truck at highway speeds when i let off the gas (tech even drove with me and confirmed the vibration)to make a long story short i have to wait for the rear end to come apart and destroy everything.nice to have a warranty isnt it!!
