Just saw these tires in the mag and thought they would be a sweet tire for a Disco with a 4 inch lift. Curious if anyone has a set or heard anything good or bad about them. The interco site claims them to only be 33.2 so not much taller than a 255-85 but more aggresive than the BFG. Just fishing for comments. Daniel

I've been looking at them, but I'm a little apprehensive about the fact that they are bias plys. -P

sorry I checked again and yes they are 33.6 but do not some people run the 34-9 special service with out doing an excessive amount of trimming meaning into the doors and so forth. If you run a 4 inch suspension and factory wheels it shouldn't be much worse than running a 255-85 with a 3 inch lift. The 34-10.5 are only about 3/4 inch differnce in radius than the 255-85. Oh and the ltb's are only 114 instead of 140. It would be nice to try but I would like to hear some input on somebody that has run a similar set up before I invest in some tires that are a potential headache. Thanks Daniel

Dan,

You are going to hear "no way" and "no problem". The only way to find out is to "just do it". You can armchair this thing to death and never know.

If you are going to do these on stock wheels, you are going to have to adjust your bump stops big time. You will hate the loss in turning radius.

yeah the turning radius was more of a concearn for me than trimming. I thought about getting a set of gcr rims but then I will have to cut more of the fenders it's kind of a lesser of two evils. I guess I could try the factory wheels and change them later if need be. I will probably try to do something with it this month. have not decided on the 34 swampers or 255-85 bfg muds.

Dan,

Where are your concerns regarding the fenders? Here is a pic of my truck with GCR's, 33x12.5's (same 33.7" tall, and obviously much wider) and a 3" RT lift. Obviously, the front stock endcaps are not a concern, and neither is the lower rear fender thanks to my bumpers. However, I didn't have to trim the top of the fenders at all to stuff. The back of the front fender was trimmed about 1", however, but I think it looks OK because it was trimmed clean.

The biggest (and so far only) problem I have is the rear door. However, I have the RTE trailing links with no spacers installed, which actually means that my rear axle is closer to the door than stock. Some time this week I am hoping to insert a couple spacers to move the axle back to see if I clear the door. I am not actually rubbing on the door at all right now. What I am rubbing on is the body lip right behind the door that the rubber door seal goes up against. I think once I move the axle back, it will be OK. The next step will be to verify no inner wheel well rubbing. I will keep you posted.

Tom, thanks for providing some info with a similar sittuation I just might go ahead and do the swampers but I think I will see how they work on the factory wheels first. I will take some pics and post them when I get it done. still open for anyother opinions though. thanks Daniel

I USED TO RUN THEM ON MY R.ROVER AND IF THEY ARE LIKE MINE AND ARE BIAS PLY I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM THEM FOR STREET USE. THEY SUCKED FOR ON THE ROAD DRIVING, HOWEVER OFF ROAD THEY WHERE A GREAT TIRE.

James:

http://www.aedofab.com is the web site. However, there is little on it. The fabricators name is Mike Aedo and can be reached at [email protected]. The bumper, including rear skid plate and a new hitch receiver that replaces stock is $850.

More pics are here...

Bias is interesting on road.

As far as turning radius it will suck but you have to remember it is no worse

Ron

PS dan I was thinking the same thing for my rangie 114 is cheap and even if I had to keep the ATs for on road it would not be too bad.
