I'm on my 3rd disco. at around 30 mph all 3 have had a minor vibration that is similar to a driveshaft vibration. And it goes away at 35 or so. The 94 with 78k miles that I have only had for 2 months has it but it has suddenly gotten alot worse. It continues from around 27 mph to 37 mph and then gets worse. it settles back down at 40 and totaly stops at 65. Like I said it feels to me like a drive shaft. I took off the rear one and it's still there. Any body else have this problem or a solution? Thanks Cal |

its not the uj's is it? take the front of and run with the back to see if its that shaft. Also you should be able to grab the shaft (ooo errr lol)and shake it. you might be able to feel the slop in the uj's. |

While I have only owned my new 2001 SE auto since 10-21-01 I think I have sent 100 posts to every LR board I could find in the last few months. My high-speed ride was made much smoother by a dealer replaced drive shaft (rear). I too still have the problem with low speed vibes. Everything mechanical checks out says the dealer. Well between 35 & 45 the vibe is still there. It varies from a quick passing vibe to a much longer sensation...to the point where passengers ask "whats wrong with your truck" I have gotten so tired of it I started the formal process with LR to either replace the truck (8000 miles now) or refund my money. It's a shame no one seems to be able to figure this out. It's a great truck in every other respect. I'll be disappointed if I can't resolve with LR and have to resort to a refund. With 6 service visits and 5 days of lost vacation time I can't keep this up. I have an appointment with the after-sales LR service rep to determine the next step. I have the lemon law criteria meet. I think LR knows something is up. There is a techincal write-up on the yahoo groups owner board concerning over machining of a flange by LR....who knows. There is a problem effecting brand-new trucks....so all the help I received about worn rotoflex, CV, u-joints, wheels/rims, .....didn't help in my case. I had the problem the day we drove it off the lot (13 miles on it at that time). |

I would have my lawyer write the dealer a letter if you think you can benefit from Lemon Laws |

could be bent wheels, or wheels that are not balanced properly...i just fixed this problem..it would happen at slow speeds while accelerating even out then..at 70 or so it would happen again..then die down at 80 plus..i did thorough checking of everything then decided to look at the wheels and sure enough a weight was missing..problem is fixed now |

All wheels were balanced 3 times as a mattter of fact....from 3 different places over the last few months. Nothing changed the low speed vibe. I kept wishing that's what it was because it does feel like wheel-hop or wobble just like an unbalanced tire....but after 3 attempts to implicate tires at hi-tech tire shops I had to give up...they all said the tire & rims were fine and balanced normally |

Cal, I always had this vibration on my Disco, it was more pronounced with larger cracks in the rotoflex, but it's always there even with a new roto (no driveshaft joints are loose). So i just decided to put up with it. More annoying is 80mph rumble that's always there, it seems to be some body resonance. peter |

Well, on my 97 3.9 5 speed, alloy wheels, Mich 235s, nothing up to 140kph. There was a batch of bad steel wheels out there around 98, friends of mine here had theirs replaced FOC for vibration problems. jp |
