Has anyone replaced the rear bumper on their Disco? Some drunken S.O.B. ran into me a couple of nights ago as I was stopped for a stoplight. He HAD a 2002 Acura CL coupe. He basically submarined under my rear bumper, causing very minor damage to my 1998 LSE (i.e. pushed the bumper forward about 1/2", bending it slightly upward on the driver's side, scraping the bottom of the bumper end caps and leaving his paint on my receiver). He didn't even break the little lenses in the bumper. Needless to say, he has about $4,000 - $5,000 damage to his front end.

I got an estimate from a reputable body shop and I gave the Rover a physical inspection. I can't find any frame or structural damage, so I was thinking of having the offender's insurance company cut me a check and replacing the bumper myself and take the end caps to a body shop for prep and paint. This is assuming I could find a replacement chrome bumper and end caps.

Does anyone know where I can find a chrome rear bumper and end caps? Any help would be appreciated.

Chrome on a Disco? Cringe! Get a new rear TJM bumper from Expedition Exhcange instead. That way it will match the new bumper and winch that you are planning to put on up front.

Otherwise, try RoverLand in Tampa. They are a salvage yard. They might be able to help you. It's a moderately rare part (chrome), so it might be hard to come by.

Thanks,
Mike B.

I have one in perfect condition on my rover now. How much is it worth to you?

I also have a polished stainless steel A-bar sitting in my basement that came off when I put an ARB on my '98 LSE (in case you wanted it and had any left over insurance money!)

Thanks and let me know what you think,
Brian

Thanks,

I appreciate the replies. Actually, this is my wife's Rover (Mall-crawler) [cringe] which sees frequent off-road use and I want to keep the rear bumper stock. I like the TJM and if I bought one, I'd probably have it painted to match the body.

I'll turn this into an off-road machine in a couple of years, when I pick up a "new" used 2002.
