Hello all, My 99 Disco II has started to make a grinding noise that seems to come from the steering column. The dealer cannot figure it out, but it happens occasionally when I am backing out of a driveway or parking space and am turning the wheel. (I do not turn the wheel all the way to the left or right AND the car is rolling as I turn the wheel.) Anyone else have this happen? |

Is the feeling like the steering wheel is "stripped"? Mine makes a breif noise like a grunt. It happens only when I back out or or pull into a parking space. |

Just for grins, check your steering stabilizer (shock mounted in front of in back of your front Diff). It might be bent just enough for the two sleeves to be grinding against each other. My next suggestion would be to stand outside the vehicle while some else backs it up while turning the wheels. Be sure to find a big open space first! Did you check the fluid? Thanks, Mike B. |

Ooops. On a D2, your steering stablizier will be located in front of your front diff. Thanks, Mike B. |

Thanks guys, I'm taking this post in hand the next time I go to the dealership... My driver's side electric seat isnt working anyways so it's gotta go back next week anyhow. I knew if I waited a couple weeks, it would be back in the shop for some reason. |
