I realize that the limb risers guide the branches up and over the windshield, but what then, do they just fall again and scratch the side of the body? or do you guys notice that the branches slide along the roof?
Sorry for the inexperience

IMHO, they are only usefull at speed to keep branches from destroying the windscreen. Please don't put them on your rig... please?

i think it's a camel trophy thing.
i don't see much use for them out west.
hmm...
actually, i just remembered, last year, axel had an aux cell phone antenna mounted on the roof. real tall. what are the chances of that thing getting damaged in moab?

well, it was damaged alright, by the one and only tree in the trail. LOL

Emillio,

They are popular here in the South East. Many of our trails are very narrow and the limb risers help move dead branches off the glass of the windshield. I agree with Ho, that they are primarly for show out west, but they can be useful in other places.

Normally they tie into a roofrack on top of the truck so the branches really stay off the bodywork and paint.

If you have lights mounted on your roof rack, the limb risers will keep branches from smashing or readjusting your lights for you. And they look cool.

Yea...

some long branches do make it up to your rack, travel along, on top, and just fall off the back.

shorter ones ride up, and fall off the riser, slam on the edge of your fender, then ride up your windshield and get jammed in that mess of rack, lights and wires...anyhow...they'll usually rip up all the rubber around your windows as well...

If you live up in the northeast...you know what I mean...

I do find that they are the most useful, however, on an (evergreen lined) trail covered in heavy snow

I have them on my D1, they have saved my windshield plenty of times on tight trails. The branches ride over on top of the roof, and sometimes they scratch the roof, but its better than breaking the windshield or getting worse scratches on the fenders. I'm in southside virginia and they are very useful here, esp. in summer

Hell yea!! The limb risers save my windshield, lights, hood, fenders etc....from all of the branches in the tight trails here in the southeast. They look cool and they really serve a good purpose. I personally have a rack up top so all of the branches go up the limb risers and then along the rack and then fall off. They save me a lot of hassle!!
