You guys are missing the point. That stuff is cheap. So it's good. And it's only slightly uglier than that elephant man diffguard from a while back. Or what about those DAP sliders?

The price is right on all of the foregoing items. I say go for it.

Who knows anything about them and whether or not you think they would actually hold up? Maybe someone should contact him and bring him over to discoweb to answer a few questions....although not promote his product as a rather heated result occurred last time......

Yea it's ugly alright but, who cares what it looks like if you have to crawl under your truck to see it. It's a dif guard, not a hood ornament.

Shouldn't we evaluate stuff like this based on price and durability and not aesthetics?

well, the price is not that good either. compare that rear bumper to the TJM from EE. The gas tank and drivetrain skid are interesting, though.

"Shouldn't we evaluate stuff like this based on price and durability and not aesthetics?"

Umm NO. Aesthetics matter. That thing is more than ugly. If everytime I slid under the Disco and saw that contraption there, the result would be a series of nightmares of me being harassed by the man with the iron mask. And with Blue's eyes staring at me through those holes, I will not get any sleep

OK, this is ridiculous. $650 for that rear bumper?????? If it was $200, I would say OK, it looks like shit, but hey, it's $200.

I still think the diff guard looks like a tie fighter.

Is this an april fools joke that has gone on too long?

Just a thought on that Diff Gaurd. The rear is Vertical. What happens when you need to back over something. No thank you, for the money I'll get the QT sliders that will slide over anything. I think for $60 its might be an OK purchase but I'd spend the extra $40 and get something real.

Hey, what's the matter? Haven't you guys heard that a 5% bolt/washer to diff guard contact is stronger? :)

Like the old Saturday night addage says - If its not Scottish it's crap and that is most certainly not Scottish...but I will offer to test all his products and report back to the boards cause nothing beats free...

JB, you are in the wrong continent and hemisphere. I thought the addage says -- if its not Made in Austrailia it's crap :)

"Its a freaking joke , the guy cant be serious."

The real joke is that he is probably making a killing selling those to all the hard core off-roaders out east. In the west we don't need that shit as the pussies out here never hit the trail

right on, Moe.

speaking of the ruggedrover.com - that's some serious statement there. i believe the guy rhino-lines the stuff with the paintbrush... even if it was good, the looks are not convincing at all.

All that shit looks like it would cut you if you weren't careful. God knows I've never tried to weld in my life, but I don't think I could market anything that looked like that.

I know JBS is sitting somewhere just shaking his head and wishing he could say something. John it's ok.. use the anonymous feature. I'd love to hear your comments.

I still can't get past the ugliness
There is no need to discuss durability on this one. The looks say enough on their own

Tom,

You should have asked is there any one out there who fell prey to buying this ETrash

I am sorry to hear that most of you don't like the diff guard, but instead of criticizing I am always open for suggestions. The diff Guard may look ugly but it is under the truck and in all the testing has been extremely strong, I put all the parts through a hard beating over and over in the field, and the diff guard never tweaked.

Maurice,

What concerns me is the fact that I emailed you about your gas tank guard weeks ago after I saw it on ebay and you never responded. We already have one $orry Gard that does not respond to it's customers, we don't need another. If you listen to your customers you will do well and I hope you do. You would be wise to listen to advice from this board as well.

P.S. If you extend your diff guard up past the bolts you can make it also serve as a pinion guard. I think you also need to make the bolts fit flush with the steel plate. I would also put an angle on the front so the truck will slide over a rock and not be stopped in it's tracks.

Good Luck

Maurice,

This is what the other end could look like, notice the bolts look better:

Though I wouldnt purchase the product, I love having options and this guys products are an option. Not all bolt on protection has to be pretty, just utilitarian. Saving a few bucks on some underside protection is always a good option. I hope this guy keeps up the effort, you have to start selling fabricated products somewhere and just improve on the product as you can. I wish him the best in his future fabrication efforts. Anonymous critiques of someones efforts doesnt do anyone good.

"The diff Guard may look ugly but it is under the truck"

Maurice, but we are LR owners and consequently any well maintained vehicle requires someone to be frequently working under the truck eyeing that guard :)

Sometimes looks say a lot about strength. From the front, when those bolts take a direct hit they will bend and the entire guard will be useless and maybe a pain to removed as it rattles around loose. From the rear, when that plate takes a hit, it will likely bend, forceing the contraption the other way. I believe it will bend because the plate appears fairly thin and is not formed to the diff housing itself, allowing for some leverage.

On the front of my Disco, I have a bolt on Mantec. They are nicely formed to cover the thin area of the diff but do not wrap under the diff like the Armaggedon type guards. Coupled with the the pinion guard made by Rock Ware, the Mantec is all you really need. The bottom of my rear diff is polished from sliding over obstacles and unless you are terribly hard on you rover, I'm doubt many of us will damage the bottom of the diff.

The mantec is well formed to the diff and very strong.

In response to Mike D1, im sorry about not responding to your email, I try and respond the same day to all of the emails I get, but I must have overlooked your message by accident, if you could send me your email address I would be happy to add you to the mailing list for new products, and I welcome your suggestions. Customer service is the #1 priority and I wouldn't
purposely ignore anyone.

Personally I don't like when the diff guard is designed soooo bulky it extends waaaay down. It just creates another obstruction. Maurice, check out the design of the mantec and AB (Atlantic British) they mimick the lines of the diff while protecting it. I too like having options, and wish anyone who attempts to add to that list of options well. Good Luck, and remember your not selling a product, your selling service! And R&D (Research and Development) is very important in a business like yours.
