All - After installing my 2" RTE springs awhile back and spending quality time under the truck in the driveway, I figured out what shocks/mounts I wanted, ordered them and just got them in. I used 10" Travel Fox 2.0 Series resevoir shocks. They have mini-heim joints on both ends and required "normal mounts" on each end. So, I used RoverTyms normal rear mounts, upper and lower. Up front, RTE had D2 mounts for uppers that use the "normal" style shock mount and a simple yet strong lower mount that bolted right up to accept the normal style mount as well. John at RTE was great to work with. The shocks are personal preference, I just like em and where I came from, thats what folks use. They are cheap (for what you get, $156 each with resevoir at ORWs website) and rebuildable. Once I have a minute I'll do a write up and get it into the tech section, I took pics for most the install and for all the pieces, on and off the truck. To me, the OME shocks were the only other option, but they are too short in my opinion. Lift a truck 2inches, you should have a two inch longer shock. I know most folks love em and I'm sure they are fine, just for me, I wanted the perfect length and am surprised how close I got. It was real news to me that RTE made front mounts, I thought I was limited to pin style mounts, which REALLY limits your shock options. With RTEs new mounts, your doors are opened to a myriad of options. If you have questions or want a pic of a mount, just email. |
