Back to the rust topic guys. Inside the rear loadspace windows of my '97 Disco I have noticed the rubbers coated with a rust-colored film. I wiped it off with Windex, but it came back after a week or two. Is something leaking at the windows or what? Thanks |

They must use some sort of lubricant on the windows seals to help them go in easier. Or, it's leftover glue of some sort. I think they are supposed to remove it after installation, but they get sloppy. After time, this substance has turned sort of reddish-brown by the sun. I had this several places on the rubber seals as well. Try a really strong cleaner (mineral spirits or brake fluid) to clean it. Be very careful not to spill either and wipe it off completely after a few minutes. There are probably better cleaners, but these worked for me. Thanks, Mike B. |
