Hi all,

How do I find 6 degrees BTDC on my 88 RR? I have some markings (After - 1/2 - TDC - 1/2 - Before) with a few lines in between. Where would 6 degrees be?

TIA

John

I haven't tried to time a 88RR but suspect that it would be the same as all the others. That 1/2 is 12 degrees. The lines in between are 3 dereees each.

What you should do is wipe the timing marks off and fill them in with white paint so they are much easier to read.

I have my 92 3.9 engine running at 12 degrees, which gives me better part throttle pickup. You might want to try 9 degrees first, if no engine pinking try 12 degrees. You must use premium gas to avoid pinking.

Thanks Randall.

I had it set to 8 degrees and always used premium (even though it costs an arm and leg here in the Big Apple).

I removed the dizzy to install a new base plate and do the Amplifier relocation but did not mark the location of the rotor properly...stupid me.

Thanks again,

John
