Ive seen posts that discuss pulling the rear fender out instead of trimming in order to accommodate larger tires. Can anyone explain or illustrate this procedure?

I know trimming sounds bad, I was scared to do it also, but it really isn't to noticeable. I bet most people who aren't looking for it would even know. Take a look at Sam Yu's truck. At least with 235/85's the trim job isn't bad at all.

Locate the bolt on the bottom of the rear quarterpanel...it will be about an inch behind the mud flap.

Unbolt your quarterpanel and using a 4 x 5/8 mending brace and the origingal quarter panel bolt attatch the mending brace to your quarterpanel. Then using the third hole of the mending brace and a new bolt attach it to the original fender brace. This will move your quarter panel out about 2 inches, enough to fit 265/75/r16 tyres with no problem. The whole procedure will take about 10 min. per side.

Todd pretty much has it there. Or you can just redrill the three holes that hold the liner in and scoot the whole thing over a little...

The first time I trimed was to accomodate the 235/85s with a small lift, the second time was to accomodate the 265/80 with a 2" lift, and 2 days ago i trimmed everything because I could not stand hitting those shitty aluminum pieces everytime "high country" was available. The trim job was nice and usefull, as the day after I went over a HUGE gully and now all that hits is my rear NATO hitch.
