Can someone tell me what the Ring and pinion gearing is on a stock 1996 landrover discovery ( Automatic Transmission ) Also, if you know what is the biggest tire I should have on the Discovery with my gearing. Thanks in advance |

3.54 axle gearing, most people run 32's with either this gear or the 4.10's |

I still have stock gears, and 235/85s , and its not terrible, but very noticable, but i plan on regearing once i get my locker....my suggestion is that if you have the money to regear, then do it.... |

Curios: Is it possible to regear in the T-case? Must be easier than pulling two diffs...or not? Frode |

frode, You can go with a NAS 110 t-case or a TDi t-case (which are 1.4 to 1 high range as opposed to a 1.2 for US discos) but your low range does not go any lower. However, on road will be close to the same as if you went from 3.54 to 4.10 also I question whether it is easier to do the t-case gears. both are not easy. Ron 1.003 1.2ish 1.4 and 1.667 are the high ranges available in the LT230 |

Most gearing changes are done in t-case. Ashcroft in UK does some optional gears for it. 3.9l discos are 1.003, 3.5l were 1.111, there are also 1.222, 1.4 (defender etc). Simpler than doing two axles, but still some work to set up properly. Now if you had a spare t-case, it wouldnt be too hard to swap one now and then? jp |

1.667 high range and a maxidrive low range transfer case gearset and your set for those 35" tyres |
