You can smack me for this, but here's my question anyway.

Can you use a Hi-Lift (or similar) jack on a Disco with side steps fitted?

From the piccies I've seen, they only work on Disco's with sliders on. Would it reach beyond the side-step to the jack point?

One would be useful, especially as I could use it as a make-shift winch in sticky situations.

Thanks people.

I don't think side steps can hold the weight of the vehicle. You can use the hi-lift in the rear receiver but I wouldn't try it on side steps. Unless you really need them I would trash the side steps since if you do any off road driving where you'll need a winch you're likely to destroy them on the trail anyway. And then you might end up with more damage to your vehicle.

Most of my off-road is on soil/green land, and as it's in the UK, it's mostly wet.

I could do with keeping the steps as the disco is also used as the family vehicle, kids, wife mother-in-law etc. all have a stake in them.

I'd like to whip 'em off, and put on some rock sliders (mainly because they look better) on.

Thanks
