Funny how you tell yourself on the wait to the trail, the only thing I have to do is avoid damage due to falling on rocks or tree stumps (anything that could be prevented if only you had sliders) and BAM that day you happen to slide into a tree stump. Well, thats my story and after seeing the effects of bent sills and hearing of further door damage I set out to design a set of sliders that would be at least as strong as whats availible, in the process limiting the amount of damage which could be caused in worse case scenarios. Here is what I have come up with. Utilizing the existing outriggers used to support the body one either side of the vehicle, these sliders would primarily put the weight of impact on the bottom side of this outrigger and the frame. This design isn't perfect yet. That's why I am posting it. I want positive criticism and help designing a better slider. So unless this is completely bad design please don't state "too much leverage" Thats why these utilize the body mount on the outrigger, which is about 3" from the inside of the slider. I would also place the slider about 1/2" below the sill to allow room for any unfortunate bending/flex.
