I have stared at the interior of my '96 D1 and have been trying to determine the best area to mount a small, yet potent, CB radio. The ergonomics are limited. suggestions or examples out there?

Same here -

Chris DeJesus has made a nice bracket for this location so you don't have to drill any holes (if they are still available, though I ordered one last month).

I have a Cobra 19DX III which is small and fairly potent. I'll try to post a pic for you tomorrow

My truck doesn't have skylights, so I mounted it to the overhead console where those controls would have been. There was a feed (for the dome light) and a ground screw already there. Cut slight hole for antenna cable in one of the snap out panels, ran cable across above visor, and down inside door post trim. Looks pretty clean.

I just did a write up on this last month. It's on the overhead console like Enoch did. I used a Cobra 19DX III and hooked up a PA speaker as well. Check it out

Hey Glenn - where did you get your PA speaker? I got one thru Advanced Specialties Radio via the web, but the output was not what I expected (I have a DX III as well). Oddly Radio Shack no longer seems to carry these. Is yours fairly loud??

I bought the Cobra unit like Mike has in the photo above. I had a regular unit, but it kept getting in the way. I mounted mine on the Left side of the console (opposite of what Mike did). I did this to make it easier to reach. My connector box is under the drivers seat. I will try to shoot some photos.

Yes, it's a scanner...not a CB, but you get the point.
