I am considering using MTR 245/75's to replace my badly cupping stock Wrangler 255/65's. I have to park in a parking garage during the day, and have a Yakima roof rack, which results in less than an inch of clearance with the ceiling of the garage. Will using this tire size raise vehicle height enough that I would need to remove the rack? |

245/75-16 in theory = 30.4 inches in diameter. 255/65-16 in theory = 29.1 inches in diameter. there you gain 0.65 in radius... so in theory should work. but thats' only theory. not to mention that every tire manufacturer have different size 245/75-16. |

What Ho said about different manufacturers and different diameters for the same size is quite correct. I have 245/75s (Michelin LTX/ATs), and they lifted my DSII almost exactly one inch, so they are on the large size for 245/75s. I'd be really, really careful if you have less than one inch of extra clearance. You might want to see if you can have a tire or two mounted and installed to see what the height difference really is. murph '99 DSII |

Or give up parking in a garage. My DSII has been an outdoor car for the last few years, and doesn't complain any more (it used to bark at night to be let in :-). murph '99 DSII |
