My 96 Disco pulls to the right. It's really noticeable when I get up to 50 mph and faster. My bilstein shocks are 5 months old and I have had the alignment checked by three different places (Goodyear, local shop, and Big O) They each have made some sort of an adjustment and each claim that the alignment is fixed, but that usually isn't the case.

In mid March I had the two front tires replaced (to keep equal tread on each side) because when changing my brake pads I noticed that the right tire, when standing up by itself, was leaning to the right. So whatever the problem is, it's causing exessive wear on the outside of my right tire. I want to fix this once and for all and I really don't want to replace another tire.

For what it's worth, I am running GY Wrangler AT/S LT225/75R16s.

I am taking it to LR in Vegas later this week and I wanted to get some ideas as to what the problem could be.

Anybody have any opinions or had the same experience?

Chris,

I feel your pain. I had a similar issue that took me most off a year to resolve. An alignment is probably not the answer. I tried that and it didnt work. I bet you have something bent in the suspension.

On my truck I had a bent trailing link and a bent swaybar mount. I straightened the link and that made no change. Once I removed the rear sway bar the truck started to drive straight again. I guess the bent bar was pulling one side of the rear axle back.

The reason it took me so long to fix this is that it was really hard to tell that sway bar mount was bent. None of the alignment shops noticed it either. You need to spend some quality time under the truck and figure out what you bent. The fact that tires are wearing uneven confirms my suspision, mine was doing that to, but just slightly.

Find whats bent and straigten it with a hammer. Dont replace, you'll just bend it again if you wheel so whats the point.

FWIW

Dan

Hey thanks Dan, I appreciate the info. The dealer has it right now. It'll be interesting to see what they have to say. I'll ask them about this possibility, if that's what it is I'll fix it myself.

Thanks again!
Chris
