Rubicon is now available on DVD and VHS. The video is approx. 75 minutes, and includes footage from Rubicon, Black Rock Desert, Bonneville Speedway and day 1 of the Dusy Ershim run. See the store pages for more details.

Glad to see Rubicon on DVD (already ordered it). Just a quick question, is there an estimate of when Moab might be available?

Thanks,

Jeff

No estimate on Moab right now, maybe around the holidays. The next one out will be the remainder of Dusy, then Moab after that.

...so this one has commentary?

I posted a while back that after watching hole in the rock that I would have liked more narration, I'm excited to see this one.

it isn't a full narrative, but Axel pops in and tells you who's truck you are watching, where they are on the trail, what the driver is doing, and then throws in some great "straight man" style comic relief.

Yes, the Rubicon video has more commentary than the earlier videos. We realized after getting some feedback that more narration makes the footage make more sense for a viewer that was not present during filming. That is also the main reason why we pulled the Moab video from the store. There will be a new Moab video probably later this year, and it will have mostly footage from this years trip, along with some re-edited footage from 2001 (and possibly unreleased footage from 2000) along with background music and narration.

The Rubicon video should be awesome. It's remarkable how seeing the trail videos refreshes the recollection. I also want Ho to see what he missed so that I can rub it in a bit. :-)

And I can't wait to see the Dusy video either. I want to see what I missed after Ho, the two Seans, and I took off early. All those pics of the tweaked frame ears and bent drag links and Premier Power action has me all pumped up. I'm accustomed to doing trails that take one day or even half a day. Seeing a trail that takes three or four days should be quite entertaining.

Just got my copy today , + yes it is the best . Nice job , the only suggestion I could offer is to maybe tone down the music . Make it more of a background , and keep the narration + actual natural sounds louder . My 6 yr old now thinks you have to like disco (the music) if you like Land Rovers ,oh the shame. But you really have made a great one .

I'll trade someone for Moab or Rubicon video with the Hole in the Rock and Back East. 2 for 1 must be good deal for someone. After you watch it once, you're ready for the next video.

I recieved my DVD yesterday. It was a great production, really well thought out and put together. My DVD player really didn't like that copy though, and froze up half way through. Tried the other DVD player and it got to the very end before freezing up. I guess next time I'll buy a VHS. Otherwise, it was great! :-) I Can't Wait for Dusy to come out..

Sorry to hear that you had problems with your copy, Robert. Email me off-line and I'll work something out with you to get you a copy your player will accept.

DVD-R is still bleeding edge technology, and unfortunately it is't completely standardized yet. We have not had a lot of problems with the DW DVD's, but if anyone does have a problem with a DVD they buy from us, email me and I'll work with you to get the issue resolved. Please include the make and model of the player(s) that are having problems, as I would like to see if there is a pattern.

Jimmyg,
Twenty bucks is just too much to spend to support Discoweb and have your own copy isn't it? You should start the "cheap fuck video of the month club". You and your cheap fuck buddies can buy one of each video and then rotate them around.

Perhaps Jimmyg's buddy D Chapman can make his own DiscoWeb videos? That way Jimmyg and D can swap videos ad infinitum and save $20 and they can use DiscoWeb all they want without supporting DiscoWeb. Sounds perfect.

"After you watch it once, you're ready for the next video."

Thats such bull shit!!!! I have watched back east and hole in the rock like 30 times and it is great everytime. Why in the hell would you want to get rid of them! Don't be so cheap man. And think where you would be without this great resource? So support it, don't be shy!

Oh man. I just watched my Rubicon DVD. Awesome. It totally brings back all of the great memories from that trip. Memories like Peters with 30 Safety Seal plugs in his sidewall. Kyle driving with his Lev-O-Gauge 12" from his face on the center of the binnacle on his stocker. LOL. Arney's Tupac wrap music. Michel's lowrider going over the rocks. Sean Wolf's sills crumpling inward at the beginning of the Rubicon. Ho sitting at home while the rest of us are flooring it across the Black Rock Desert. Ax's dry humor in the commentary makes it all the more enjoyable. I'm pumped up. Thanks DiscoWeb for a great DVD.

And, uh, just for the record, it isn't the short wheelbase. It's the DRIVER. :-)

That may be true, but if I had said that, you would just become unbearable..... :-)

Which driver version were you running at Rubicon, had you installed J.Lee 5.0 by then, or were you still running 4.5? :-)

I think my favorite commentary in the Rubicon DVD is when Peters is done with an obstacle, and you can hear the "psssst psssst" from his ARB's. Then Ax says, "I heard that". LOL.

My favorite Kyle comment was when you were positioning in front of the drop-off before the Big Sluice and you said, "My Detroit ain't lettin me turn. It keeps sayin to me, 'Fuck you man, you ain't turnin.' LOL."

That's some funny shit.

Cheap fuck eh? My money is on my truck. Why don't some of you all just go to the dealer for all your fixes? You come to D-web to save money and get advise at a rate less than $89 an hour. I have no problem supporting D-web, I have stickers and the videos. The videos are good but I personally get tired of them after the 3rd or 4th time. I would rather recall my own memories and own video tapes of the same areas than to live through someone else. Rubicon may be good since I haven't been there, yet.

Chris and Greg, Simma down now.

Hi Axel,

Not sure if I have mentioned, and this is not a complaint or a problem, but the DVD that I have of Hole in the Rock won't play on my PS2.

Does seem to work OK on my PC's and stuff though.

Just thought that this might be of some use.

I will be ordering some more stuff soon too.

Danny, UK.

Sure, who wouldn't. But for those people who aren't able to go to the places on the videos, it is a decent substitute. Other people just like to watch Land Rovers do their thing, and for them, the DW videos is another source of entertainment. It is also a way for us to generate some cashflow to offset the cost of running the site without asking for donations. You'd be surprised if you knew what is involved in making sure this place is up and running with fresh content every day. Kyle, Ho and myself all have regular dayjobs too, so it's not like DiscoWeb is our main occupation.

I have to admit though, after spending hours and hours watching the footage during editing, by the time the videos are finally done, I am usually tired of them too..... :-)

Yeah, Jimmyg, just get back to us when you actually do the Rubicon and Dusy. I'm still waiting for Wal-Mart to deliver D's Rock Attack footage.

Axel,
I hear you. You three do an awesome job keeping this board going and I for one, thank you all very much.
Mr. Lee,
I would love to have you come along on the trails I hit 3-4 times a week in CO. Or maybe the many trails I was able to run in Moab twice a month. You talk so much shit that your eyes must be brown.

I also have a very small sample of pics from here in Crozet Va which I would call, RockCrawling. When my digital picture illiterate ass figures out how to post a pic from a cd I will.

Geeze, Jimmy.

The videos are about supporting the site, just buy the damn thing, concede that what you said was stupid, apologize, and move on. Think about it. Who on this site will agree with you on trading them, especially when you are using Discoweb as your vehicle for trading?

Geeze, RVR OVR.
As I stated before, I support this site. Why should I apologize? Spend your precious time helping others rather than trying to bash me for some dumb ass reason. Remember what this board is about! This shit is turning into a damn soap opera. I paid for my videos, I thought someone else would like them since I have no use for them anymore. I paid, I enjoyed, and I am now done.

Those pics are just proof that there is rock crawling here in Va and that is it. I never said that a Rover was ever on those trails. For the record, I've only been off-roading with Chapman 1 time and probably will go again with him.
