Anyone know how I can disable the running lights, and what will happen if I don't and find a high-output halogen bulb that'll fit? Does the euro-spec H4 bulb fit DOT approved lights? |

On DII the daytime running lights are powered through a resistor at the rear of the headlamp. The IDM (intellegent driver module) closes the relay that supplies power to this resistor. It cuts the voltage down to the high beam element. You can find the relay and remove it, or disconnect and tape the wire going to the resistor. Low voltage not good for high output bulbs. |

Thanks Paul I should've mentioned this is on a '98 DI. You confirmed what I thought that not all bulbs would tolerate low voltage, thanks. Will try to find a full wiring diagram. |

On DI I have been running 100W light bulbs with no issues for over 2 years now. I would not, however, run bulbs like 85W (130W output) PIAAs as I destroyed the high beam fillament in those in few months with DRL on another vehicle (running high beam at 50%). |
