I just purchased my second Rover, a 99 Disco II, and I can't stand the running boards! Why would anyone want to reduce the ground clearance on an off-road vehicle???!!! I took a quick glance and notice that they are attached to the body mounts/bolt. So before I go and take them off, my question is: will removal affect the body mounts and if so what torque should they be set to? |

I don't blame you, a friend of mine took his running-board fitted disco off-road, and within 200 yards he'd bottomed out once and managed to bend the boards so they damaged the body mounts and became very hard to remove. The first job I did on my disco was to take them off. I did the bolts up as tight as I could with the correct sized spanner and it's been fine.

I like running boards and would have them on any rig that I do not take on serious trails. Once you start going on more difficult trails, you will learn that there are just other things to smash if you do not drive within the limits of your vehicle. |

I'll sell mine if you want them? I am missing rubber mold on one side, but I'm sure someone can help you out |

Well, I'll need to wait on that for now. My Disco is a daily driver and trail rig. However, I am starting to think RR County LWB, but need the vehicle first. |
