95 disco 145k v8 3.9 almost perfect
ok.. i know many things.. but this one kills me... the engine stalls when hot.. and then starts when you open the hood.. i know it is the amp module thingy on the distributor getting over heated.. but where can i find a relocation kit?

oh #2: do i have to buy an OEM key blank from the rover dealer or is there an alternative??

Raf:
Are you sure the amplifier module is on the distributor? All of the '95s I have seen (NAS) have had the amplifier mounted next to the coil.

Relo kits are available from all of the major suppliers, but I can't see paying $230 for a piece of wire, a few connectors and a piece of aluminium to mount the amplifier to. I have heard accounts of folks who just hooked up a piece of wire to amp and moved it with no ill effects. I may be doing this this evening.

Peace,
Paul

someone mestioned this a few weeks ago and it turned out they had the amp on the distrbutor.

http://www.xkslandrover.com/pages1/ignit.html

madule price is not reflected by i have a flyer that i got in the mail from them that has it on sale for $53

regulare price is still cheapest around

why relocate for $220 when it will last 7-10 years where it is at. buy two if you think you'll own the truck in 20 years

Mine acted up once when it was about 95 deg. and I was in stop and go traffic for about an hour.
The engine suddenly stuttered and had no power. I kept trying to give it gas, but no matter how far down I pressed the pedal, it didn't make any difference. Couldn't go faster than about 25 mph. I drove on the emergency lane for about a 1/2 mile and pulled into a parking lot. I shut it off and restarted after about 30 seconds. Started up and ran without a hiccup since.

You ought to remove the module and smear a layer of di-electric grease on the back. It is supposed to help transfer the heat away from the module.
I sure all the older Rovers with the 3.9 need this done. There was no grease on the back of my module. It either dried out long ago or was never put there in the first place.

The trucks with the remote mounted amplifier placed the module adjacent to the coil.

Remove the amplifier from the distributor, mount the amplifier where you think it will be best suited. Attach wires from the pick-up coil to the amplifier (details omitted to allow for personal preference as to connectors, etc.). That really is about all there is to it. Be careful when bolting the amplifier down as you can crack it and break it, also be careful the amplifier is grounded, I usually put some anti-seize on the back to insure good electrical contact and heat transfer.
