On a high milage D1, is it a good or bad idea to run a "hotter" plug? Could a hotter plug lead to overheating? What is the correct gap for the stock plug?

thanks

You have a 95 3.9 ? Came with Champion RN11YCC. Gap was 0.84 - 0.96mm. Can't comment on what a "hotter" plug would do.

Stick with stock heat range unless you are fouling plugs

I'm fouling plugs. Replaced spark plugs with RN12YCC. Now disco studders when I first push the gas. The plug's gap is .30, should I open the gap back to factory specs? Has anybody tried this?

Running hotter plugs will run the risk of creating the risk of more engine detonation/pinging, but I can't offer any other advice than this.......

I learned the hard way...DO NOT put in a hotter plug!!! Truck ran like shit and two plugs blew up within 3 days! The good ole stock plugs went in and all is good now.

So, cracked air intake after the MAF not a problem?

Mike, that's just the next problem. After I replace the hose, I'll see if the MAF needs replacing. Went with the 20lb tank this morning.
