Does anyone have a Detroit locker in their Disco? (Rear Diff) How does it handle on the road?

How about a true-trac in the front? Hows does that handle on the road with the front being full time four wheel drive?

Any comments are appreciated.

i have both.... you really don't notice them other than an occasional pop from the detroit unloading, it is kinda scarey at first but no biggy. the TT really corrected my oversteer created by the lift. it was pricey but worth the beans.

Greg, I love my Detroit in the rear. After about a week you do not even notice the clicking when turning, other wise you will never know its there. As far as a TT, well, you will get mixed reviews here. Personaly I would never have one, but there are others on this board that swear by them. It all depends on what you want to do with your truck. I would say save your money and get an ARB for the front,or better yet wait and see if the new Detroit Elec. locker will be made for our trucks.

D., why would you never get a TT? I'm very pleased with the self-centering aspect of the TT. I can't say how it is off-road since I just put it in a week ago.

I doubt that an electric Detroit will be made for the Disco since the control portion is mounted on the differential cover, which the disco doesn't have since it has a third member.

"I can't say how it is off-road since I just put it in a week ago."

Let me know how you like it after your first steep, rockey hill climb, or after riding the brake trying to get the thing to lock up all day on the trail. They are 100% better than stock, and if you do not do a lot of off-road driving they are fine. I dont know about the self-centering part if it.

I am willing to bet the Elec. detroit will be made for a truck with a 3rd member. TRD Tacomas have had a similiar locker for the rear for a while now.

the TT in the front is a tool like anything else you have to learn what its limits are. just like the first trip off road with open diff. you learned that there were places it works and others it didn't the TT/Detriot combo works really well together otherwise no one would be using it. funny thing like every other choice you have to match the right tool to the right job. its not a bad choice of lockers and there is no air hose to let go when you really need it.
D. the TT will bring the front wheels back to center, sometimes a bit quicker than i would perfer. how it does it i have no real clue but it does. it was one of the easy fixes after lifting the truck to correct the change in axle position from stock. next time your in central ohio let me know and you can motor about in my truck, you will feel a difference.
