You could probably just have Midas do it for under $100 Even without the resonator, it should be as quiet as the stock muffler. |

Rich, I had a local muffler shop do mine on a D1 with dinomax turbo mufflers, a big one the size of the factory and a smaller one to replace the rear muffler. Sorry for the lack of tech. on the mufflers but... it had a very slight change in tone and total was $350.00. I had a borla on a grand cherokee V8 it was crazy loud, so loud I removed it, lemon lawed the j**p, and never put it on the Disco.. I knew it woule be too much. -Jim |

The NRP system will give you a palpable boost in power without sounding like a redneck in Chevy pickup with a Flowmaster exhaust. They have a nice gutteral sound, not too loud, but cost $$$. ---Norm |

I like the Falcon Stainless system from Atlantic British. It is nothing special like the NRP, it looks just like a stock LR exhaust and sounds the same, but will never rust out. I think they are about $500. Dave |

Put a dual chamber flowmaster on my '96 DI and it's got a recognizable sound, but it's not really loud, more deep than anything. I got the flow and put on, resinator removed and replaced with a stainless steel tip for $125.00. If you leave the resinator on its pretty quiet and just a bit louder than stock exhaust, but definately sounds more clear. |

If you want quiet then you don't want Flowmaster, Borla, NRP, etc. We just think they aren't loud because we can't hear anything ...or maybe its just me that can't hear because I drove for several days last week without any muffler while I painted (& couple days to dry) my entire exhaust system (well, only from the Y back so far) with a 1200 ceramic paint. A couple cans of paint is only several hundred $$$ cheaper than a full stainless steel exhaust. I tested about 6 differant mufflers when I put the Borla on mine. The Flowmaster does definitely have a nice deep sound (tested 3 or 4 differant Delta Series) but was not the "clean" rev I was looking for. Any muffler shop should be able to put on a new generic muffler for $65-75. I would suggest removing the resonator in the rear and replacing with a pipe (2 slight bends) and either a turn down or turn out the side. Should not be more than $20-30 extra. |

I've got the cat rattle of death, a 44 O sensor fault code/service engine light at 104K (emissions ECU trip point, every 52K), and hole in mid muffler..... Anyone had any luck replacing factory dual Y cats w/ single V8 cat after the Y comes together and combining the 2 oxy sensors into one? Muffler back I can handle, but know not a thing about Cats. Rov. North wants $800 for new cat, salvage shop in OK wants $350. I need a weld it myself option if there are suggestions or previous exp.? Much appreciative! |

High flow catalytic converter's are available in just about any size needed from www.jegs.com or www.summitracing.com for $60-125 each. The one on the right side is oval and the left is round. You'll have to measure lengths and diameters to get the correct one but that shouldn't be a problem. You can get a shorter one and just add an extension to the pipe to make it fit. |
