Cannot get rid of this problem. Previously comments of low level in cooling system and drain plugs either side of transmission was an unsuccessful effort.

What year Disco? I have a 2000 D2 and just had that problem. I was leaking antifreeze. couldnt tell. it would only happen while driving. Replaced radiator. all is well. And the ploblem sounded like water sloshing just behind the glove box. i could hear it especially on turns and acceleration. The resevior is directly behind the glove box. My coolant level did not look low either. Check it while the engine has been running a while. Good luck. -Tony

My 96 disco did the same thing when the coolant was low in the resevior. It was caused by the leaking in the intake manifold. If you refill your reservior to the limit, the sound will go away.

What about clogged drains right under the windshield (under the cowling below the wipers)? If they are clogged on both sides the rain/wash water will collect there and "swoosh" back and forth in the "trough".

You don't want to fill the reservoir, with the engine cold it should always be nearly empty.
