Can someone verify that the definitions I have are correct for the following codes? I assume these are correct...that's what the OBD-II tester read and that's what a list I found on the internet said. P1509 - Idle Speed Control Short Circuit Fault P0300 - Misfire on Multiple Cylinder P1316 - Misfire Excessive Emissions Fault Later today I'll clean the Idle Air Control Valve a.k.a Idle Speed Control a.k.a Stepper Motor to see if that clears up the P1509 code. If needed, I'll replace with the Napa Part # MPF31738. I assume I should begin with inspecting the wires and spark plugs for the other two codes? I cleaned my engine bay recently so possibly there is some corrosion built up on either end of the wires. Anyone think of anything else to help resolve any of the above problems or maybe something I'm missing? Thanks in advance.

Anyone have any opinion on the Magnecor wire set? They have [stock] 7mm, 8mm, & 8.5mm available for the Disco and I am wanting to know if the 8.5mm is actually worth the extra money compared to the 8mm and are there any other wire manufacturers that anyone would suggest. Thanks. http://www.roverconnection.com/Plaza/rcmag.htm |

Magnecore is ok. There is another thread here that says the company has the Land Rover ones on sale again. (Just checked their web site. they tell you to buy them through Rover Connection so no additional savings there.) I put them on mine and it hasn't done it any harm. Whatever DTC database you used concures with mine, but I can't tell you what it really means. -Reed

Oops, Napa Part # MPF31738 is apparently only for the 3.9, its nothing like the 4.0. Does anyone know of a cross reference for the 4.0 "Idle Air Control Valve". In the Tech it says AC-151 but what does that number go to? I can't find that number on the part itself anywhere. Tell me it's not a dealer only item! |
