My alternator looks like it cant get rebuilt. They have tried twice with no luck. Any advice on what to get for my 95 Disco. NAPA? Pepboys? Heard about the mean greens as well.

I went through advance auto parts for my new alternator, since it had a lifetime warranty. It was 219 after core charge.

I had the same problem, my alternator was fried.

Jorge, FWIW don't go with a rebuilt. Yeh, it may have a lifetime warranty, but you'll be mad as hell when it fails 3 months down the road. I've got a Mean Green, it was easy to install after I found a new serpentine belt which is required with the new alternator. If you go with MG, lemme know if you need pictures or the exact belt I purchased.. Later.. RS

I always thought these were badass. Then again, I don't have $1K to drop on an alternator!

If he's not running extra lights, winch etc. how do we know a rebuilt won't last? I got a Bosch rebuilt and I trust it.

My truck is stock. The rebuilder is the dad of a good friend of mine so I trust him. He said he is looking for a new one which I can buy at cost. Guess he feels bad the rebuild didnt work. The mean green is an option only if I had more toys like lights etc.
