I read Ken's article in the Tech section, and did several searches on the archives, and cannot find what I need there. I need to replace the little plastic slider that slides in the track under the window, but when my window let go the gear tooth (shaped like a sickle, one side has teeth and is greased, other side has a squarish notch along the arc and is not greased) fell to the bottom of the inner door panel. Does anyone have the workshop manual, and could scan a page containing the parts of the window regulator so I can reassemble? This is for the driver's door on a 1996 D1... Thanks for any help! andrew, i'll check the manual when i get home. i won't be able to scan it until tomorrow, but it won't be a problem. i'll email it to you if it's in there. ken |

humm... i am not sure what you are talking about.. but here is my diagram for my modification. bend the control bar
the metal noch is where that plastic peice used to go. just bend the arm SLIGHTLY as shown. it will fit into the slider and not ever break again. i have done this on mine without problems.. it takes 15min see ../2/26138.html"#444444"> |

My problem is not only a broken plastic washer -- there's a loose piece of metal too! This piece of metal is the toothy, sickle-shaped bad boy; I'm comfortable replacing the plastic piece, but the metal piece doesn't seem to have a natural location (at least that I can envision)... |

are you sure?? that metal peice is hard to break. if it is broke.. you better hit ebay! it will run you about $80 -$100 to replace it. how in the h-e-double hockey stix did you break it ? |

I have one in the garage for the driver side. I'll snap a picture of it in about 30 min. |

Yeah - that's mine! (Hey, put it back in Mark!)
I don't have any idea how that metal piece broke off -- I was told it just bolts onto the regulator...is that true? Or do I need a new regulator motor AND regulator arms? I'm not going to be able to work on the door tonight (propped the window up in closed position with a wood piece), but I'll yank the whole damn thing out tomorrow. Wish I had a digital camera to show you guys the carnage under there...

ok.. slightly bend them..towards about 3-5 degrees ..away about 2-3 degrees.. look at the line at the bottom of the picture.. that is what you are trying to acheive from a side view. note.. my control arm is different. it only has one piece. but basic engeneering says the pricple is UNIVERSAL. it will work for all three arms. do you understand?
