My CEL came on about a week ago in my 96 disco, but it was running fine so I didn't think too much about it at the time. Today, it started blinking at random times so I decided to stop in at autozone and have it read. They told me that it wasn't putting out a code, but the CEL is still on. The light starts blinking at random times while I'm going down the road, but its still running just fine. Any ideas/suggestions? Is the guy at autozone an idiot?

The guy at Autozone may not have the software to read the codes. Check some of the other posts on engine codes. There is a unit under the passenger seat that should display some basic codes. There is a description on how to access it in several posts.

Isn't the box under the seat only on OBDI rovers (95 and back)? or am I wrong on that?

A '96 Disco should be OBD2, and does not have a box under the seat for the codes. You need to plug in under the dash on the kickplate just above the throttle.

The guy at autozone should be able to get most of the codes, he just may not be able to inturpret them.

He should be able to turn the light off though, then see if it comes back on in the next hundred miles or so.

If that can't be done then there may actually be something wrong with the ECU, and you'll need someone with either testbook, Autologic or one of those other expensive readers to check it.
