oh.. great! i was sitting at the light for a loooong time.. the motor was at idle..not tooo rough, but not smooth..(the norm.) then i noticed the battery light flickering on and off. 95 disco 145k |

Does the light go off if you give it some gas, and raise the idle speed? I'd guess that the idle's too low to spin the alternator fast enough to keep the charging voltage above the proper threshold. Your serpentine belt might be slipping on the alternator pulley a bit. |

it only does it sometimes.. and it only last for a few seconds. in short, it doesnt last long enough to test your theory. it flickers unexpectantly at low idle. |

usually a sign of a bad battery or alternator as well. Take it to autozone or someplace similar and have them test them both. Although I would check the belt like chris mentioned as well. -justin |

I forgot to mention... It could be a simple as a dirty battery post/wires as well... Check the cheap things first (athough autozone will test for free). -justin |

I had the same thing happening. It turned out to be the alternator. It would intermittently flash the warning lamp for 10 sec to 1 minute. I finally caught it happening in the driveway. Put a volt meter on the battery and saw the alternator was not putting out. Charles |
