Well, I finally bought my first Land Rover! It is a 2000 Disco II SE. It will be my daily driver and my wife and I will use it quite a bit for camping etc., as well as up in the New Mexico Mountains. Anyway, just thought I would say hi.

Don't worry about problems with your truck. When you do have issues come to DWeb and we'll be glad to help. As long as you follow a good maintenance plan your truck should treat you well for many years to come. There's a thread down the page "Definitive Maintenance Schedule" with a great link to a comprehensive maintenance list.

Best of luck and congrats!!

FYI took my 00 DII Bone Stock 50 miles out in the Rio Peurto outside of Albuquerque and for the most part didn't have any problems. It got Named the Martini Moblie. Wish I was still out there to tare it up!!!

Don't worry I am used to getting grease under my nails. My grandfather used to build racing motors for cars and boats and my father restores cars. I traded my moderatly modded ford lightning in on the Disco as well...

"Don't worry about problems with your truck"- How could you not worry about problems? Disco's are awesome trucks and can do amazing things, but things WILL go wrong in time. Welcome to the LR community!

You traded a Lightning for a Disco? So what do you think, was the Ford much faster than the new rover? About the same?

I test drove one of those rocket sleds. They are BIG but very fast, especially for a truck. Not much of a camping rig though are they?

I hope you enjoy the disco, they arent for everyone.

I have a 2000 d2 as well and love it. Take care of it and it will always get you home! Good luck.

might want to get rid of the micheline HP tires if they are still on the truck though.

>was the Ford much faster than the new rover?<

I am going to have to get used to not being able to pass people like I could before, although I guess I have the benefits of shortcuts on my side now ;).

>might want to get rid of the micheline HP tires if they are still on the truck though<

I will check and see what is on there, what would you recommend on getting?
