How easy would it be to wire a switch up to prevent the interior lights (front, back and boot space) coming on when I open the doors? I could also do with preventing the annoying alarm sound when you switch off the vehicle, but leave the keys in the ignition. I need to be able to get out of the disco without drawing attention to it in the middle of the night. Nothing sinister, but when hunting and stalking I have to put electrical tape over the lights before I go out! Had a wonderful shot at a fox from the bonnet of the Disco last night. 180 yards away, .243 60g HP did the trick nicely. Any help on the electrics appreciated. H RNESS |

Horness, On my DI, there are little "push in" switches in the door sills. As the door opens, these are released and allow the lights to come on. It seems to me you could do something to keep those down (good use for your tape) and be all set w/out any changes. You may be able to just remove them. Tom |

Horness, This is what I did on my RR - removed all the "push-in" switches. Duct tape would not keep them from popping out. The lights now operate from the factory switch that I turn on or off. You can open any door or the rear hatch and the lights stay off. On my system, they still turn-on when the doors are unlocked either from the key or remote. Not sure about a D1. Regards, Jaime |
