I'm going to be getting a bumper fabed later in the summer, and I need pics, ideas, etc. I need them to show what I am looking for and want. Any ideas and pics will be appreciated. I like the one of the green disco in the rubicon trails pics. I like the whole brush guard in the rear deal. I don't know about the full tube construction. I was wanting to (since I have a body lift) lift my trailer hitch up and incorporate it into the bumper like the one in the tech section. Also that would allow me to raise the rear bumper and not worry about the trailer hitch still being low, or cutting it off. Just some thoughts

Blake, post some links to what interests you in the way of bumpers. I'm a designer by profession i went to school for industrial design, so maybe i could help you out with some cool original ideas, if that's what you're looking for. I'm new to the world of land rovers, so I'm yet to be jaded and i haven't really seen any custom or moded bumpers yet. so that;s why i say send me some links or some pics. |

I like the bigger bar coverage of the sides on this one. But I don't know about the bars for the bumper (for me).

I like how this one is solid. Maybe take the bars off the first one and put it on this one.

Blake- If you do decide to fab up a bumper like the one on my truck, find someone with a SafariGard rear bumper to get your design headed in the right direction. With the exception of the added wraparound tubing and a few "structural improvements", that's all mine is. (It's a SafariGard-based rear bumper with a few tweaks.) Something to consider though: possibly relocate the hitch mount higher like SafariGard offers as an alternative (they have pics on their site). I left my hitch point as is and on my recent trip to Moab that sucker was banging and scraping all over the place. Granted, it's built like a brick shithouse so it didn't break or bend. But that one little point was the difference between me coming off a bunch of obstacles violently rather than quietly. |
