Hi, Has anyone tried to put the front driveshaft (Disco II type with double cardan on t-box side) in a Disco I with V8 auto ? Does it fit ? Seems to be tight (crossmember and transmission tunnel) Cheers John (same discussion on range rover board, reminded me of the annoying vibration on my own rig after 2,5" lift.) |

Yep, plenty of us. You will increase the chance of scraping your sway bar with it, thouhg. Here is the driveshaft install. http://www.discoweb.org/shafts/tomwdriveshaft.html The second pic in this article shows the sway bar extenders used to alleviate the scraping problem. \topurl {http://www.discoweb.org/disconnects/index.htm} Tom |

I would not bother, the discoII front drive shaft has no grease fitting for the double joint. I have seen these drive shafts come apart at hwy speed. It went right through the Transmission case. Now granted I'm sure that it was making some noise before it came apart. You could drill a hole and install a grease fitting into the ujoints, I think there is enough room. LOL David C. |
