OK. I can't find a Haynes or even a Chilton manual for my Discovery, and I even visted their sites and they don't even list Land Rover as a vehicle option on the pull down menu. I went to 3 parts stores and they don't have it either. Where is the BEST source to get a good manual with pix? (besides the dealership)

You can get one from a dealer for about $150

I got mine from british pacific for about $120 I think. With the binder I guess it was about $150.

I have a Haynes that someone brought me from England. It does not cover the V8...and its not very good anyway. I do not know if haynes even makes one for the US market Disco.

I have some pages from the manual up at http://geekforhire.net/scans

I ordered mine through atlantic british.
http//www.atlanticbritish.com
$30 +\-
It seems to be of British origin (duh?).
Covers through 3.9litre petrol and diesels.

I've got a 4.0L (97 D1) and it's close enough.
I think I've convinced my wife that we need a Genuine Workshop manual.

The Chilton will refer you to the dealer for jobs like autotranny fluid, is weak in other areas.
BUT IT'S A HARDCOVER!!!
It was worth the coin
I won't be giving mine up.

I bought the haynes from atlantic british, but it doesnt cover the 4.0 v8.

I got the genuine lrover manual from discountrovers.com for 95 bucks about 1-2 weeks ago, but it looks like they just jacked up the price to 119...

Yes, Chris, mine turns out to be a Haynes, not chilton. Doesn't cover electronic ignition.
The haynes is a good place to start. Covers chassis/drivetrain okay.

I'm surfing over to dicountrovers.com right away.

ok guys here is my 2 cents... I have the haines disco book...ok for some basic stuff.. i also have workshop manuals for the rangerover and discovery... how ever neither cover the 4.0 really at all they refer you to the 4.0/4.6 engine overhaul manuel..try and find it boy what a project rovers north can get it maybe for about 35.00. I just did a valve job and i needed to use all 3 books for the info i needed like torque values and stuff but what i really needed is the engine overhaul manuel so if you get any book make sure you get the overhaul manuel with the workshop book oh yea dont even deal with the dealer for that suff.. just order it from rovers north or other genuine parts place plus better service it took the dealer 4 months to get my 38A range rover book oh yea also get the binders they are 4 ring ones and it helps keep it nice and tidy..

my 2 lincon's

I bought my shop manuals from the land rover enthusiast magazine bookshop. Cost for the workshop manual is 52.95GBP. or about $96US. You get a discount if you subscribe to the magazine.

This is not the binder version though, it is softcover.

cheers

Dave,
haven't used the ETM yet, just bought it for that special day the Sir Lucas desides to visit.
actually sent my manuals to a co-worker that needed to do some work on his disco.
