Just picked up a 99 Disco I with 73K. Thanks Alyssa. Everything seems great but I have a few fixes I need to make. I'll tell ya though, parking ramps are a scary sight when your inside one of these things -Kevin |

Being a new LR owner I already have problems and quesitons.. Power steering worked fine on the test drive, and the 150 miles back to my house. Now it's a PITA when parking. No noises, going to check the fluid today but any other suggestions? Also I need to change the PCV valve. Man I really need a manual. If you want to read the problems with the truck and maybe throw a few suggestions my way, look in the trucks for sale. Bought the 99 Black one Thanks and I look forward to being here for the long haul... Oh BTW - any nice trails in N. VA? |

Be sure and use ATF Dexron III for your power steering. |

Ok here's the oddball problem... What happens is this, when the truck is cold, and sitting for a while, the power steering works just fine. As the truck heats up and has been driven for a while, the power steering basically cuts out. Could that just be air in the system or what? Seems pretty strange to me. |

Probably air, top up and it should be fine. Get a quart of ATF and fill then turn it back and forth (the level should drop) repeat as necessary. If it seems as though there is still air in it there is a bleed screw on top of the box to bleed it properly if you prefer. seems kind of odd to me as well, but that is the first thing to try. The PCV hose is really easy to change. Right on top of the valve cover is an L shaped hose. remove hose and remove the valve, clean it out and replace the hose with new. There is another smaller hose on the P/S which I would recommend replacing as well. Ron |
