While picking up my 97 disco from the dealership (and no, they didnt fix what I originaly brought it in for but thats another post), the mechanic noticed a rattle coming from the catalytic converter. It wasnt there yesterday... It was explained to me that the internal honeycomb filter or whatever has become seperated and is banging against the shell/covering of one of the converters. Or something like that. Anyway, they are having trouble convering it because, although its clearly broken and making a decent racket, the emissions have not failed (yet). My dealer is currently arguing with someone with Land Rover and I should hear within a few days. Has anyone else had this problem? (I looked at the posts in the warranty section). thx |

I just had mine done under the federal warranty and my emissions hadn't failed either. I had mine done at LR Alexandria, VA. My cats were loud too. |

If you have less than 80,000 miles the cats are covered without question, regardless of emission's. |

Mileage allowed depends on build date, it's not just 80k... fwiw- Craig |

He did say that it is a 97 disco which is well within the 8 year or 80,000 mile federal warranty. David C. |

Thx for the posts. Hopefully it will work out. FYI, it was a 97 disco with 67k miles. For some reason LR San Jose thought the fed warranty was up to 70k and not 80 but they appear to be wrong. |
