damn, i thought i was bad. but seriously jc, it isn't that costly. if you use it once it will probably pay for itself. shop manuals are probably the most expensive piece of paper you are ever going to buy, ranging in price from 100-300 depending on the vehicle you buy them for.

Don't buy a manual, just ask simple high school level auto shop questions here until we all get sick of answering them and tell you to move on!

JC

Go to

www.lromagazine.com.

On the Forum Index > Q & A Board Discovery.
Go to Search and type in CD Rom for past 6 months.
Read and you may find Johnny. He's in England.

I have his Cd Rom which covers the Disco Workshop Manual, Hand Book, Electrics and also covers all these for the Range Rover and Defender.

I got mine for peanuts and best bargain I have had where anything connected with Landrover you tend to get screwed.

Is the Disco manual complete??

When I looked at this CD, the RR manual was not complete.

Jesus C, I know it stinks to pay about $120 for the thing, but having your own complete copy is definetely better than a xeroxed or printed out copy. It will come in handy more than once. Look at it as buying parts. I ordered mine from XKS unlimited.

Shop Manual, I don't need no stinking shop manual. All I need is a set of Tiawan steel spanners, a pair of channel locks, and a hammer.

And a tow truck.

That's all I need.

I have been in contact with John from the UK via email. He seems legit but what is the quality of the Manuals? Are the cd-roms worth it? For $15 it does not seem to be a bad deal.

As I've said, I've seen them. The CDs are factory RAVE CDs and they are of good quality. I just know the portions I was interested in weren't complete. I cannot vouch for the Disco portion because I've never seen the paper one to compare it to.

For $15 I say it is worth it depending on when it is set to time out. Evidently, these Rave CDs have an expiration.

If you want cheaper, look at rovers north and find the Hayes manual for D1's. I think it runs about $25 and provides good info, not as complete as the shop manual, but you get what you pay for.

I bought what I thought was an original workshop manual from Atlantic British. Imagine my surprise when an obvious xerox copy arrived. And I paid how much for some high school kid to stand in front of that copy machine?

Paul,

Don't be surprised by that. I believe that is the way LR is releasing the NAS manual. I got a shrinkwrapped RR manual that was a copy as well. I called BP to enquire and they had several more in shrinkwrap in stock with the same telltale signs.

Look on ebay, thats how I got mine for $75. True it was used by a LR dealer mechanic but it was in near new condition for a shop manual. I am a Cheap Bastard to look for one used, oh well. But I would buy a new one, it has saved me hundreds on labor charges.

You could have got the R.O.W. D90 manual for free(online)

Perrone had the RR manual online where you could have downloaded it for free.

Someone is bound to have the disco one on PDF by now. (I personally don't care as I already have one)

Post it for an hour and let everyone download it. we won't tell
