Howdy,

maybe some of you are interested in pictures showing a modified Disco I.

Decent donuts certainly are nothing new, but some pics show Unimog axles being converted to be put under the disco.

Its a german site: www.defenderland.de
(follow "publics" -> "Steckbriefe" -> "S.Kassebarts Disco I".

(If you had seen the video on www.spanishtrailrovers.com, I mean the first of the videos (15Kb!) then you might see why I recently admire the Unimog so much more ;) )

Cheers, Hendrik

While I am always interested in seeing people do interesting projcts, I just don't think Unimog axles are a good fit under a Disco. I took a look a those pictures and I'm not even sure what Mog those axles came from...

The real issue to me is that the Unimog is a whole lot more than its axles. In fact, the common Unimog axles are even that strong. But when you combine them with a torque (but anemic) motor, a flex chassis, and a serious suspension, it become more interesing.

Glad you like the movies. I'll put up more in a few weeks if I get the chance. Did you view the Pinzgauer factory movie?

Oh yes, I have enjoyed all the videos. You see, my boss has a high-speed internet access - without it download time must be 2-3 hours for all.

True, the Mog is just a different league. I have seen them on a truck trial in "use", they too are in frequent use here in Germany's army - no surprise, they are close to the factory.

What really impressed my was the ease with which the Mog climbed the boulder steps (perhaps long wheelbase helped, but the tires/tractor style do not). I mean the 90 and Range had large tires and probably diff-locks too and still struggled to go up even with momentum.
