Anybody know anything about Milemarker's new 8000lb. electric? I only know it is a planetary and is selling for $399. Might this be a good option for those of us that seldom use a winch, but would like one in some cases? Or is it just too underpowered to be of any use?http://www.thinkoffroad.com/thinkshop2/asp/product.asp?product=862&cat=61&ph=&keywords=&recor=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=

DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THIS AS I MIGHT BE INTERESTED TOO. At this price, could it be an okay winch for occassional off road use and would it fit a DII ARB?

I have learned (heard) it is sourced out of China. Also that the head guy at MM went over there and inspected the factory to insure it would be an A-1 unit, as it had to compare favorably to the other 8k electrics.

The price is right, but I think I will take a wait-and-see approach.

Hmmmm...........

Mile Marker, the company that built it's reputation for hydraulic winches, pissing on electric winches, is now making an electric winch?

Hmmmmmmmmm...............

My understanding is that it is a permanant magnet design. Let us know how it turns out Neal.

Greg P. It should fit a DII arb. I would pay a little more an get an M8000 at the least to get a series wound motor.

no wait . . . I would break both of them so it does not matter :)

Exactly Ron , you or anyone else would break them both. In dont see tthe point in buying an "interim" winch......

Would the 10,500 hydro mile marker fit into the ARB? seems like it's not any larger than the M10000 that the ARB holds?

the 10500 MM will fit in most bumpers

its smaller than most electrics.

you can also swap the stock driven motor out for another Dan Foss "stubby" pump to shave another few inches off it width.

they also are pretty lite(about 70lbs)

I dont think MM has "seen the light" with the new electric

they are a aggresive company. they have always done things other companys have been afraid to.

such as 2 wheel drive conversion

and special hubs for economy

when they got to winches they just decided to do it right the first time with there hydro.

as far as the low price MM has always introduced new items at cut rate prices to get a following

the first hydro's sold for under $600 just to get attention.

I'v had great luck with MM products, except some front hubs they where importing. everytime I wheeled I would gernade a set of the hubs, and I mean gernade there where parts stuck in a tree next to my tire once.

I'd be very scepticle of a winch made in a foundry in china.

I know a buyer for a magor golf club company. and he stood there watching them melting down coat hangers to cast golf club heads in china for clubs to sell here.

save the money get the real thing...the MM 10500 hydraulic
