I'm wanting to lift my 97disco about 2 inches for more clearance and a taller/bigger tire size.
I have already installed Rancho 9000's.
OME steering damper is on the way.
If I were to go with 2" springs, will I have to modify anything like shock mounts, brake lines, etc.?
Or is this simply bolt-on and play?
Also, what size BFG ATs could I stuff?

Thanks

Andy:
With a 2" lift, you will most likely avoid the horrors that await those of us who just have to go higher! No, you will not need different shocks, shock mounts, nor brake lines.

The easiest way to achieve this lift is to merely bolt on a set of springs available from any of a number of manufacturers, from any of a number of vendors. Check the archives-this is a flogged horse topic!

I have a '95 Disco that between springs and tires has been lifted almost five inches. I now have a folding ladder for my wife to maintain domestic tranquility. I used a set of Rover Tym springs and 235/85/16 BFG A/T T/A tires.

The 235/85/16 might be more tire than you want as I needed to trim my rear fenders to clear the tires, in spite of the three inch + spring lift. If you are averse to trimming your fender openings, I'm not certain you'd be able to do much with respect to taller/wider tires with only a 2" lift. Also, keep in mind that with either a wider or taller tire, you will negatively impact your turning radius as the tire will hit the radius arms. There are offset spacers and rims that will alleviate this, but again, if you do that, you may wish to consider a taller lift.

The biggest advantage to the more modest lift: It is almost certain that you will not have any driveline vibration problems caused by altering your pinion/axle geometry. I have finally solved my vibrations-I hope!

Good luck-if you need more help, e-mail me off list at [email protected]

I am not one of the best technical references on the site, but I did installed OME HD springs in the front and OME MD springs in the rear. It was really easy. The springs are pretty much plug and play. I am running everything stock except the new springs and new BFG MT. I did have to trim the rear wheel wells a bit to fit larger tire 245/75/16.

Others?
