How close it this guy from tipping end over end (i.e. how carefull should I be if I was in the same situation)? I really do want to know, not just shooting the breeze. Does anyone have pictures or experiences of being this steep of steeper?

What would happen if he slammed the brakes? |

Hopefully he is seriously mashing the loud pedal. Hitting the brakes here would be "unwise" -P |

http://www.landroversrus.org/events/trek2/pics/imagepages/image99.htm This link shows me almost rolling over on my side after trying that same move. I hit the gas from a standstill but gravity took my ass end sliding around instantly.. nice pucker factor sitting at the top of that one... |

Steep drops can be tricky for the pros as well! As you can see in this clip Right Clic > save traget as: FOR BROADBAND http://www.suburbanwhiteguys.com/video/broadband/nwrca-rollover-large.wmv Dial up: http://www.suburbanwhiteguys.com/video/modem/nwrca-rollover-small.wmv |

If I remember right, LRs are capable of climbing and descending 45 degree hills. Interesting enough, this information used to be on LR's website under vehicle specifications, yet, when I went to there to verify it, I couldn't find anymore. I did see a new Ford logo on the site so maybe they took the information off. So, a quick and dirty calculatiopn shows this hill angle to be about 53 degrees. Not to far off from the recommended maximum of 45 degress for a stock LR. Mr. "P" is right though - hitting the brakes probably wouldn't be a good idea. Jaime |

45 degrees is stated in your manual. least in mine. that does not mean you can climb or a decend any 45 slope of course. first you have to get over the very uncomfortable and not so natural feeling of getting tossed through your windshield.....or looking at the tree tops. same goes for sideslopes. you will usually freak out before your truck does. but careless driving can take care of that in no time. |
